A Triumphant Return: 6 Questions for Bobby Lashley

TNA Wrestling Superstar and MMA fighter Bobby Lashley shocked the pro wrestling world by returning to IMPACT WRESTLING at Lockdown in Miami.

ImpactWrestling.com has spoken with Bobby Lashley and conducted the following interview:

Question:

Have your impressions on TNA changed since your debut in 2009?

bobbylashleyBobby Lashley:

Yes, they have. Prior to coming back, I was watching how TNA was growing with their shows and with the guys on the roster like Jeff Hardy, Gunner, Magnus and Samoa Joe.  They are moving in a good direction. I think based on fan responses they have more steam behind them.

Question:

What has changed in your personal life from the first time you were with TNA to now?

Bobby Lashley:

I have had 12 MMA fights since being away from TNA, and I am now a full time single father. I also have opened up a new MMA/fitness gym, and think I have gotten not only better but younger with age.

Question:

What are your career goals with pro wrestling and MMA?

Bobby Lashley:

With pro wrestling, I want to be the face of the company. Title or not, I want to be the reason people tune in to watch the show. My primary focus is pro wrestling. If the right opportunity came around with Bellator, that was complimentary to TNA, I would go back to MMA and compete for the Bellator World Championship.

Question:

What was it like to be a part of the famous head shaving match, with two billionaires (Vince McMahon & Donald Trump)?

Bobby Lashley

It’s one of those things that people with ask about for the rest of my life. It was a life changing experience. Working with Stone Cold Steve Austin, Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, Umaga and Donald Trump was an incredible experience. In my eyes and heart, it will be hard to beat the magnitude of that match.

Question:

What was the deciding factor for you to come back to pro wrestling?

Bobby Lashley:

I never wanted to go away from pro wrestling. Fighting is something I’ve always enjoyed doing and it is part of how I support my family. I have always wanted to be a pro wrestler, and I used to watch TNA before becoming a roster member.  The level of competition on Impact Wrestling is second to none.   With my situation right now, it’s a great fit.

Question:

Your first day back started with a bang. What was it like going up against Dixie Carter’s nephew, ECIII?

Bobby Lashley:

While I don’t agree with how he had a leg up on coming to TNA, I respect anyone who is willing to put the work in to do this full time.   I wasn’t fighting Dixie Carter, I was fighting a real talented athlete who is pretty damn strong and willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.  With the internet and rumors, some people always know who is coming back. But the fact that it was such a surprise and 99.9 percent of the world didn’t know until my music hit… made it a moment in time.  The crowd had a great reaction and it was an incredible time.
