Impact starts off with our World Heavyweight Champion. Accompanied by Brooke, Bully Ray speaks about his new found fondness for Dixie Carter's speaking skills. After her verbal beatdown of A.J. Styles last week, Ray is sitting pretty. As he sees it, Styles is now off his game as he heads into their World Heavyweight Title Match at Bound For Glory. Dixie has tunneled into the Phenomenal One's brain and messed with his head. The outcome? Another sure-fire victory for the Aces and Eights President at Bound For Glory. Who's that? You know. Just in case you don't, Bully asks.
"Do you know who I ammmmmm?"
Aces and Eights do. Bully Ray's neglected brothers somberly step to the ring with Knux taking the lead. He questions the Prez about his priorities as only Knux can.
"You care more about your ho than your bros."
Bully's no gardener and knows the cheap shot was directed at Brooke. He warns Knux to watch his mouth and grows irate when the crowd joins in with a chant. At this point, Ray takes control of the situation and begins to make a few things clear. First of all, he's always willing to take out anyone he feels doesn't help Aces and Eights. He bounced D-Lo, Anderson, and even his own brother Devon. Tonight, he might get to do it again. You see, our main event tonight is Knux, Wes Brisco, and Garrett Bischoff of Aces and Eights against the Main Event Mafia. If Aces and Eights win, we celebrate.
Oh, but if they lose, the person who takes the fall will take a hike. Bully Ray will bring the hammer down and fire them from the group.
In our battle of glam versus bam, the Bro-Mans teamed with Gail Kim to take on Joseph Park, Eric Young, and O.D.B. Early on, Robbie E and Jesse Godderz spent a good amount of time tearing into Park. But when the group tagged in Gail Kim, things went too far. Her taunts and slaps awoke the sleeping giant in Joseph, who exploded on the Bros and turned the momentum around. The KimBros never regained it either. By the time O.D.B. splashed a prone Jesse, the three count was a mere formality.
Austin Aries was up next and the Greatest Man Who Ever Lived had something to address. People want to know where he goes now, after coming up short in the Bound For Glory Series. But what they don't understand is that a win in the Series doesn't matter to Austin. He doesn't need to be in the main event to actually be the main event. He's the "common denominator of greatness" and…
"Well, alright, alright, alright."
With those four words, Kenny King returns to Impact as only he can, shutting down the Austin Aries Show. Because, as Kenny puts it, it's getting on his nerves. Sure, Aries was main eventing Bound For Glory, but King was the one everyone was sweating. According to the Pretty Boy Pitbull, things were great until Sabin stole is X-Division title. But even then, it ain't no thing to Kenny King as he had a plan to get it back. Well, that is until Austin Aries snuck into a title match dressed as Manik and ruined the whole thing. Although the arrogant Pretty Boy respects the move itself, he resents the outcome. It's something he still needs to avenge. Oh, and there's that other thing too.
"The other thing that was getting under my beautiful brown skin back there is that you're talking about the future like you're the future. Austin Aries, maybe ten years ago you were generation next, but what you see standing before you is the next generation of pro wrestling. I am the future."
None of this sits well with Austin Aries obviously. He starts removing his street clothes and demands a match. Unfortunately, it looks like we have no match as Kenny King declines.
But then he suddenly punches Aries in the face and laughs before jumping from the ring.
However it's the Greatest Man Who Ever Lived to get the last laugh. A referee arrives, orders King into the ring, and we have ourselves the very match that Kenny just declined. What followed was one of the most physically grueling fights in recent memory. Almost immediately, King was busted open and fought on strongly through the crimson mask. Aries didn't take a step back and hit the Pitbull with all he had. To his credit, Bloody Ken didn't miss a step at all either- even hitting high risk kicks while blinded by the blood. But in the end, that early shot was enough to tilt the scales. After a mistimed running dropkick to the corner missed, King found himself promptly brainbustered and pinned. While the crowd cheered the win for Aries, it was hard not to applaud both men for an awesome encounter.
The moment many had been waiting for arrived when Hulk Hogan showed up next. Impact's Red and Yellow General Manager spoke about the subject that everyone is talking about - the battle between A.J. Styles and Dixie Carter. Hulk is disgusted when dirty laundry is aired in the ring and knows that no matter what was said last week, A.J. Styles is appreciated. The Hulkster rallies the crowd to show its love for the Phenomenal One and their desire to have him stay with TNA. He promises to bring A.J. back to the ring later tonight and "straighten all this out".
Many fans have been dismayed by Chris Sabin's attitude change in recent weeks. It wasn't more on display than in his X-Division Championship match against titleholder Manik. Sabin feigned a knee injury to goad the champion in and then shoved Velvet Sky into him. It was all underhanded tactics from there. The irony is that these tactics ended up costing him the match. After trying to use Velvet as a distraction again, he found himself on the wrong end of a roll up. When the referee counted three, it was Manik getting his hand raised in victory. Once again showing his newfound aggression, Sabin attacked the champion after the bell until Austin Aries ran in to stop him.
At Bound For Glory, Olympic Gold Medalist and TNA Wrestling Legend Kurt Angle becomes a TNA Hall of Famer. Angle returns and becomes the second inductee into the Hall. It's real. It's damn real.
In our big six man tag team main event, everyone had something to prove. The Aces and Eights wanted to show their worth to their club. Meanwhile, Magnus wanted to prove his slow decline in recent weeks was just a fluke. Sadly for him, the Extraordinary Gentlemen's Organization wanted to prove it wasn't. Within the first few minutes, Christopher Daniels, Bobby Roode, and Kazarian attacked him before Samoa Joe and Sting could chase them away. It didn't matter though, alongside Sting, Joe was on fire. Even at a three-on-two disadvantage, they tore into Bully Ray's boys with ruthless intentions. When the man they call the Samoan Submission Machine locked Wes Brisco in his rear naked choke, there was really only one possible outcome. Wes submitted.
Once the victorious Main Event Mafia left the area, Bully Ray arrived. He paced around Brisco and finally did what he had to do. He said that it would be "lights out" for the loser. The tapping sound on the mat determined you to be that loser, Wes. Now hand over your cut to the President.
But Brisco refuses. When he does, Bully orders Knux and Garrett Bischoff to tear the vest from his body. They too refuse. So it's up to Bully Ray to clothesline Wes to the ground himself. He follows up with a soul shattering piledriver that folds Brisco up like an accordion.
The World Heavyweight Champion now orders Knux to retrieve the cut and hand it over or else he'll do it again. The crowd urges him to resist, but ultimately he relents and hands the vest for his President. Wes Brisco is the latest to be banished from Aces and Eights. And then there were three.
When Hulk Hogan returned to the ring for his meeting with A.J. Styles, he was excited. As he explained to Styles, there was a pretty good chance that A.J. would be the new World Heavyweight Champion at Bound For Glory. That being said, he needs to have a firm contract with the company. Right? Sure. So that's why the Hulkster has put together a deal for the Phenomenal One that would solidify his spot in TNA and shows him the respect he's due. He presents the clipboard to Styles and assures him that the fans love and need him in the company. A.J. pauses for a moment but then signs it. Everyone cheers and we have our happy ending. Well, almost. That's when TNA President Dixie Carter rushed up the aisle and she had a better ending in mind.
Through a chorus of boos, Dixie first spoke to Hogan. She pointed out that he was brought to TNA to open doors. He's done that and she appreciates it. She thanks him for all he's taught her about the wrestling business. But, Hulk's just an employee. He can be more and Carter can help him, but that's what he is. Oh, and as for A.J. Styles and his threat to her last week…
"Let me see if I can remember this one right, "I'm gonna make you get down on your knees and beg." Darlin', in your dreams maybe. But that's it. I mean, your reality A.J. is staring you right in the face at Bound For Glory. While Hulk might see some value in this phenomenally marginal one, I do not."
With that, she rips the contract he just signed into pieces and orders Styles to leave her ring. He does. Then, she turns her attention from him Styles, well, all of us.
"You just don't understand and bless your hearts, how can you understand, huh? Because 99% of the people in this world, they've never had to live in my world ever! They don't know what it's like. All the decisions, all the obstacles, and the heart wrenching decisions that I had to make. And you know what? All the 99% that have so graciously contacted me in the last four to five months, criticizing me, putting me down, guess what? You need me. You people need me. It is. It's the 1% that creates your world that you get to live in."
The crowd reacts just as you'd expect. But as they boo, Dixie turns her attention back to Hulk Hogan. She acknowledges his place in the company and gives him an ultimatum. Are you going to be on "Team Dixie" or are you going to "sit on the sidelines like A.J.", Hogan? The TNA President gives Hulk one week to make a decision on where he stands in this war that he was trying to stop.
The General Manager is on a deadline. He stands in disbelief as Impact comes to a close.
