Here’s what you missed on Thursday’s live IMPACT WRESTLING on Spike TV from Orlando | by Thomas Sanders
Anarchy reigned supreme in the IMPACT Zone as the Aces and 8s took full advantage of the access that they won at Bound for Glory. The traitor Devon antagonized the audience and proudly declared that the Aces and 8s are now in control. The “Icon” Sting didn’t appreciate the gesture, so along with a handful of superstars, he attempted to take back the IMPACT Zone by force. Hulk Hogan then declared that if the Aces and 8s wanted full access, then they would have to fight for it, starting with Devon himself.
In the evening’s first match, Samoa Joe defended his Television Championship for the second time, this time against Robbie E. The bro from Jersey put up a good fight, but despite a little interference from Robbie T, Samoa Joe still managed to pull off a “Muscle Buster” followed by a rear naked choke and submission victory.
After smearing most of her lipstick onto her new boyfriend’s face, new Knockout Champion Tara decided to take a break from making out to wrestle ODB, who was also preoccupied with a man of her own. Eventually ODB grew tired of being tossed around, so she took a giant swig out of her flask and sprayed it into her competitor’s face, setting up a pin moments later.
Newly crowned TNA Tag Team Champions Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hernandez squeezed out an impressive victory against Kid Kash and Gunner in a match defined by brute strength and athleticism.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy came out to thank his many fans and celebrate his Bound for Glory win in the falling confetti. Austin Aries took exception to Hardy’s party, so he proceeded to spit on the World Championship after a rant about Hardy’s good fortune.
As a precursor to next week’s Championship Thursday, Hogan put Christopher Daniels, Kurt Angle, and AJ Styles in the ring together for a match to determine the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. In the Direct Impact of the Night, Angle unleashed a vicious slam on Daniels for the win, which visibly upset his former tag team partner Styles afterward.
The long awaited showdown between Sting and Devon started like any other match, but soon escalated into an all-out brawl between the superstars and the gang. Sting had Devon in a submission hold before the gang rushed out in massive numbers to intervene in yet another match. The superstars were ready for the move, though, so they quickly came to Sting’s rescue. Bully Ray, Devon’s brother and former tag team partner, brought up the rear with Sting’s baseball bat as a wild night of action drew to a close in the IMPACT Zone.
Will the IMPACT WRESTLING superstars ever be able to rid the IMPACT Zone of the Aces and 8s now that the gang has access? Tune in next week for Championship Thursday to find out, only on Spike TV!
