IMPACT RECAP August 9, 2012 - By Thomas Sanders

Here’s what you missed on Thursday’s live IMPACT WRESTLING on Spike TV from Orlando:

The threat of more attacks from the “Aces and Eights” loomed large as Bully Ray and James Storm kicked off another night of nonstop action. Tired of being the prime suspect behind the gang beatings, the “Cowboy” challenged Bully Ray to a brawl right then and there, but Bully stepped back, instead letting his wrestling do the talking for him in the night’s main event.

Acting General Manager Sting invited the “Aces and Eights” to the ring to settle the score. The gang made their appearance, but only in a series of videos guaranteeing their return at this Sunday’s Hardcore Justice Pay-Per-View.

Rob Van Dam squared off against Magnus in a Bound for Glory series match. Magnus took control early, but RVD secured the all-important seven points after a crippling top-rope frog splash.

World Tag Team Champions Kazarian and Christopher Daniels defended their title against Devon and Garett Bischoff. While Daniels distracted the referee outside the ring, Kazarian delivered a cheap shot with his belt to the head of Devon for an easy knock down and pin.

Robbie E took to the microphone to antagonize one of his Hardcore Justice opponents, Jeff Hardy; of course with the support of his oversized bouncer, Robbie T. Hardy took exception to the insults and emerged to defend himself, but met a painful end to his night after being thrown through a table.

AJ Styles, admittedly jet-lagged from his trip to Australia, took to the ring against Kurt Angle in the evening’s second BFG series match. A spectacular back-and-forth match finally ended when Angle reverse slammed a beaten Styles for the pin and seven more points.

Knockouts Champion Miss Tessmacher unleashed a powerful “facebuster” against Gail Kim for the “Direct Impact of the Night” and got the win against her nemesis.

With Sting mediating, World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries and Bobby Roode made a verbal agreement in front of the world to wrestle as planned at Hardcore Justice this Sunday. Roode had originally objected to a contract clause denying him a rematch if he lost this Sunday, but Aries convinced him to proceed by conceding his own rematch clause, too. Bottom line: one champion will emerge victorious this Sunday at Hardcore Justice and there will be no more rematches.

James Storm, still heated from his confrontations earlier in the night, came out in a frenzy against Bully Ray in the main event. Bully Ray narrowly avoided a “Last Call Super Kick” and countered with his vintage “Sitdown Slam” for the pin and seven BFG series points. After his win, Bully Ray began demanding that the “Aces and Eights” come out from hiding, but he had to settle for one last video from the gang declaring that he would be their next target at Hardcore Justice!

Is the “Cowboy” really to blame for the “Aces and Eights” attacks? Who will emerge from this Sunday’s Hardcore Justice atop the “Bound for Glory” series leader board? Tune in next week for an all new IMPACT WRESTLING only on Spike TV!
