Here’s what you missed on Thursday’s live IMPACT WRESTLING on Spike TV from Orlando:
World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode did not mince words while declaring himself the absolute favorite at this Sunday’s Destination X main event against Austin Aries. After humiliating the injured Chris Sabin, and then showing up uninvited to undermine general manager Hulk Hogan, Roode tried to intimidate his Destination X competitor, but Aries fearlessly stood his ground against the bigger Roode.
Bully Ray kicked off the evening by accepting Joseph Park’s challenge to wrestle next Thursday, but with a caveat: a surprise restraining order against Abyss all but guarantees that Joseph Park’s brother cannot interfere with the “anything goes” match.
Crimson kept the stakes high as he wrestled current champion Devon for the World Television Championship. Devon held on to retain the title, but after the bell Madison Rayne emerged with lust in her eyes. Pushing Devon aside, she revealed that referee Earl Hebner was her secret crush all along by cornering and passionately kissing him after the match.
Destination X hopefuls Dakota Darsow and Flip Casanova clashed in an X Division match with tournament implications, with Flip Casanova’s perfectly executed back flip from the ropes securing an impressive victory.
Kenny King defeated fellow X Division star Lars Only in the night’s second tournament style match before Destination X. With their wins, Kenny King and Flip Casanova have now claimed two more of the eight spots in the tournament at Destination X for the X Division Championship.
Fans got to see a preview of Sunday’s Destination X Knockouts Championship rematch against current champ Miss Tessmacher and former title holder Gail Kim as the duo squared off with their respective tag team partners. Miss Tessmacher sealed a victory for herself and partner Tara with an impressive pin on Gail Kim’s partner, Madison Rayne.
The feud between AJ Styles and tag team partners Christopher Daniels and Kazarian continued this week with a heated exchange. Both Styles and Daniels promised victory at Sunday’s Destination X “Last Man Standing” match.
The Charismatic Enigma Jeff Hardy faced the Cowboy James Storm in the evening’s only “Bound for Glory” series match. After high-impact exchanges from both superstars in the night’s main event, Hardy somehow kicked out of a pin and delivered his Twist of Fate finishing move to secure a BFG series win.
