Exactly six months ago Dragon Gate USA exploded onto the North American independent wrestling scene overnight. DGUSA's primary goal was to become the premium brand of pro wrestling. Diehard wrestling fans have responded and made this company grow tremendously over the last six months. Just look at this momentum:
-www.DGUSA.tv's traffic rating has jumped 402,064 spots in just the last three months according to Alexa.com.
-After only six months, DGUSA's Facebook has 1,409 friends, Twitter (www.Twitter.com/dragongateusa) has 1,875 followers and Myspace (www.Myspace.com/DGUSA) has 4,166 friends.
-The first two live events in Philadelphia and Chicago drew tremendous crowds, which include premium tickets selling out in minutes.
To show our appreciation, everyone here at Dragon Gate USA strives to improve and upgrade your DGUSA experience. We have attempted that recently by giving a loaded, free "Independent Tour De Force Vol. 1" DVD to all our 1st and 2nd row ticket holders on 11/28 in Philly and 1/23 in Chicago. You get what you pay for with DGUSA.
The new "Open The Historic Gate" double DVD set is another example. Instead of complaining about downloading and torrents, DGUSA has attempted to counter it by producing a DVD you will feel good about owning. We want to make the DVD experience fun again. Some of the new features include optional commentary, over 90+ minutes of extras including three bonus matches, plus deluxe packaging to make it a real collectible. It is a double DVD set to insure optimum picture quality. Of course, the real incentive is that this DVD set captures the entire 7/25/09 debut event, which was known as "Enter The Dragon" on pay-per-view ("...from start-to-finish, this is as good a wrestling PPV show as there has been.." - Dave Meltzer 9/7/09 Wrestling Observer Newsletter). Now it has been re-edited to give you full ring entrances, complete post matches and the entire card from start-to-finish. The rave reviews don't stop with wrestling journalists, look at what WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross said in his 9/06/09 blog at JrsBarBQ.com after attending the "Untouchable" pay-per-view taping in Chicago: "Loved the Dragon Gate show. The fans in attendance were awesome. Their passion was infectious. Bravo to them. The talents worked so hard in the ring. Their style is uniquely fast and athletic. Lots of the great Ultimo Dragon stylings which was expected and exciting."
DGUSA has also made a lot of friends in the past six months. A network has started that includes partnerships in the wrestling world with CHIKARA, AAW, Hybrid Wrestling, Women Superstars Uncensored, Jeff Peterson Cup, Wrestlers Rescue, Wildcat Belts, Headlocked comic book and our sponsor Highspots. DGUSA has also crossed over into other subcultures and made partnerships with Ferret Music, R5 Productions and Jinxed. The party has just started. The next PPV will be "Untouchable" with a Nov. 6th premiere and a strong encore on iN DEMAND on Nov. 7th at 6pm.
The Dragon Gate USA roster has also evolved as Brian Kendrick, Mike Quackenbush, The Young Bucks, Davey Richards, Jigsaw, Gran Akuma and Hallowicked form a nucleus that calls DGUSA home. They have joined the incredible core roster from Dragon Gate and other top North American talent like Super Crazy (scheduled for debut on 11/28 in Philadelphia), Bryan Danielson, Too Cold Scorpio, Kenn Doane and Dawn Marie. DGUSA is proving to be more than just great, athletic matches. In the past six months we have seen tensions rise and rivalries grow with Dragon Kid vs. Yoshino, CHIKARA vs. YAMATO & Akuma and the emergence of The Young Bucks and Davey Richards.
